Caroline Chisholm Education Trust

Caroline Chisholm School is governed by Caroline Chisholm Education Trust, a charitable company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales, company number 07638756. It was set up by a Memorandum of Association on 18 May 2011. The Trust operates as a single-academy trust.

Effective governance with robust oversight and assurance provides the foundation for a high performing organisation, ensures the academy trust is well-placed to respond to a changing external environment, and preserves and strengthens stakeholder confidence. The governance structure brings rigour, challenge and accountability. Those involved in governance share a common vision - to provide school experiences and opportunities that promote and encourage ambition, confidence and success for everyone.

The Trust is led by Members and a Trust Board, which has four committees. The Trustees work with the senior leaders of the school to provide support, challenge and strategic direction. The Trust Board is responsible for:

  • Supporting, monitoring and challenging senior leaders in relation to its educational and financial performance
  • Agreeing the school improvement plan and monitoring progress
  • Monitoring the risks to the school
  • Ensuring statutory policies are in place and being adhered to
  • Having regard to the voices of the school’s stakeholders, especially of pupils, parents and staff

Documents

The Articles of Association set out how CCET is operated and governed and the Master Funding Agreement is effectively the contract between the Department for Education and the Trust. These are set out on the Compliance page. The Scheme of Delegation (below) outlines the operational authority delegated by the Trust’s Board of Directors (its Trustees) to the Principal and to Committees of the Board. The Terms of Reference detail how the committees operate. The Governance Code of Conduct is the code that all those in a governance role sign up to.

Trustee and Committee Information shows the appointment dates of current and recent members and trustees as well as the membership of committees.

The Trust’s Register of Interests contains information provided by Trustees, Members and senior leaders regarding any business and pecuniary interests they have outside of the Trust, in the interests of transparency. The Attendance Record shows Trustees’ attendance at meetings of the Board of Trustees and Committee meetings.
