Wellbeing
We value wellbeing for everyone. For our students, families, our staff, and for everyone in our community. We understand the importance of wellbeing, not just because good wellbeing supports better learning and achievement, but also because it involves developing important attributes for life, such as empathy, perseverance, and resilience. As Head Student, Saoirse, told us:
“When wellbeing is coming second, you’ll realise you can’t keep up with school work and everything becomes so much more overwhelming. Put wellbeing first, and it will really
make sure that then you will be okay”
Saoirse, year 13
The 2022 wellbeing survey showed our whole school community places immense importance on wellbeing for all. For example, 95% of parents and carers agreed 'my child needs to feel happy and secure at school to do well'.
“It is great to see that students, staff and parents all recognise the importance of wellbeing. Wellbeing is an incredibly important aspect of the school’s work, and we have recently adapted the school vision statement to show our commitment to this.” - David James, Principal |
New vision statement:
‘Caroline Chisholm School is a safe, inspiring, and inclusive learning environment, where everyone is valued, respected, and supported for wellbeing and success...’
Our friends at Optimus Education (in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau) are helping guide our work to develop wellbeing and emotional health using the ‘Wellbeing Award for Schools’ framework, which you can read more about at Award Place.
