The Royal Academy of Art one-year AttRAct programme of study
The Visual Art department currenty have four students applying for the Royal Academy of Art's one-year attRAct programme of study. The four students are: Reuben Kerry (Year 13), Aadam Hussain (Year 12), Lisa Owen (Year12) and Rosina Adinkra (Year 12). All the students were invited to interview at the Royal Academy in London and are now waiting to hear if they have been accepted onto the course. If they do secure a place, they will attend once a month (last Saturday of the month) either online or in person at the Royal Academy. They will have the opportunity of working collaboratively with other like-minded students, meet professional artists, complete a series of diverse workshops, attend group discussions and tutorials, have portfolio reviews and even have work experience placements organised for them. We are keeping our fingers crossed that our students manage to get offered this fantastic opportunity by one of the world's most prestigious Art establishments, and we will update this article once we hear back from the Royal Academy.
13 November 2024 Update
We are now delighted to announce that all four Visual Art students who attended interviews have been accepted onto the Royal Academy attRAct programme of study. This is no mean feat, as the interviews are fairly rigorous and students have to demonstrate their analytical skills, intellectual confidence, be open-minded and take risks, as well as be independent and able to work collaboratively with other students. Our students had to do all this at the interview, whilst being completely outside their comfort zones and under great pressure... so what a fabulous achievement that all four students have now secured a place and will shortly embark upon what will prove to be the most amazing opportunity. This is the greatest number of students that we have had accepted onto this course at any one time, and we are very proud of them.
